▸How do I join a trail run?
Check the Events tab for upcoming runs. Click RSVP to reserve your spot and make sure your vehicle meets the listed requirements. Show up 15 minutes early with a full tank, aired-down tires, and recovery gear. First-timers should reach out in #beginners chat to get paired with an experienced driver.
▸What are the minimum vehicle requirements?
Varies by trail. For most weekend runs: 4WD or AWD, all-terrain tires, a recovery point (tow hook or shackle). Harder trails require differential lockers and 33"+ tires. Each event listing specifies exact requirements. When in doubt, ask in chat — we'd rather you ask than get stuck.
▸How do I become a trail leader?
Attend at least 5 group runs, get vouched by 2 existing trail leads on your profile, and complete the trail leader orientation (a half-day course we run quarterly). Contact Tyler or any admin to start the process.
▸Are there membership dues?
No annual dues. Some events have per-rig fees to cover permits or venue costs — these are listed on each event page. The Utah Overland Rally has its own registration fee. Day-to-day group membership is free.
▸What's the recovery policy?
Every driver is responsible for their own rig. The group operates on a "help where you can" basis — we'll pull you out, but you're responsible for damage to your vehicle. Trail leads carry recovery gear. Bring your own strap, shackles, and a first aid kit at minimum.
▸Can I bring my kids / dogs?
Kids are welcome on easy-rated runs and at meetups. Some events are explicitly family-friendly (tagged in the listing). Dogs are allowed on most runs as long as they're leashed at stops and don't interfere with recovery operations. Check each event listing for specific rules.
